1930 US census and maiden name enquiries

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

1930 US census and maiden name enquiries

Postby nrepole » 05 Nov 2008, 07:23

Hi all

I have tried to look for my father's uncle, Pietro Pinto (dob: 16/7/1899) on the 1930 census but have not been able to track him down. I tried using the first name Peter to no avail. He arrived in the US in Nov, 1920 and to my knowledge would have been around in 1930. He later married a Jacqueline on 17/7/1937 in New York. I also would like to find out what her maiden name was? Any clues?

Regards,
Nick

Hi Laura

Thanks for your help but the fact that the year of birth on the draft registration card is listed as 1893 is throwing me off. It has the right day and month (16th of July), but I am looking for the year 1899. They were both born in Rapone, Italy but I think they are two different people.

Confused,
Nick

Maybe his wife is buried with him and her maiden name might appear along with Pinto surname. There are several cemetaries in westchester county NY you can check at www. findagrave.com =Peter=

thanks for all the help. I guess the Pietro Pinto I am looking for maybe missed out on being included in the 1930 census - for what ever reason. But I am learning a lot using this website.

Nick
