Germany Scotland and USA from Picinisco & Villa Latina

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Germany Scotland and USA from Picinisco & Villa Latina

Postby stuartcapaldi » 11 Nov 2008, 11:37

Can someone please advise me about searching German records.

My Gr Grandparents worked in Munich Bavaria 1878 where my Grandfather Achille Capaldi was born November 1878. Is it posssible to view the birth records on line? His sister Filomena may also have been born there.
I also believe that Achille returned to Italy as a child and then also worked in Munich circa 1900 as a young man.
He was also in the Italian military at some point. would there be access to military records and a census in Munich for circa 1900.
His first known record of being in Scotland is 1906 when he married Margaret Gundell from Germany in Edinburgh

His sister Filomena Capaldi emigrated to USA circa 1912 but I cannot find any record on ships manifests her daughter Angeline Capaldi would be with her and Filomena may have married a Capaldi.

any assistance would be appreciated
Stuart Capaldi

thanks very much I have posted on the german forum and await more advice.

As far as the records of Achille Capaldi in the Italian military are concerned, how do I go about getting this information?
I assume that he would be conscripted after he was 16.
Therefore he may have been in the military sometime between 1895 and 1905

Military service is compulsory and records are made avilable to the public at the provincial level after 75 years.

The requests for military records are requested in Italian and forwarded to ARCHIVIO DI STATO (sezion Anagni-Guarcino), PIAZZA DE MATTHAEIS 41, 03100, FROSINONE, LATINA REGION, ITALY.
