Marriage document error

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Marriage document error

Postby gikback » 15 Jan 2009, 21:02

Greetings,

This is my first post and was hoping for a little guidance. I am applying through the Miami consulate. I have a certified copy of my great grandfathers marriage certificate and it has a large error.
His surname should be spelled Bartuccio, however it is printed Bertucci. He also signed it like this. My question is there any way to get this amended for Miami or should I not use this at all and hope the take my copy of the census with the correct spelling? It is from the state of New York dated 1906. Thanks in advance for any help provided.
