My Dentico family has its origin in Gioia del Colle, Province of Bari. But there are so many other Denticos coming from other towns and citys, like Bari itself. I am trying to connect them with those from Gioia del Colle. Can anybody help me with this?
There are 8 listings for Dentico surnamerd persons in Gioa del Colle. Go to www.paginebianche.it and put Dentico in the first line and Gioa del Colle in the third line and click CERCA for their names, addresses and telephgone numbers. Peter
English is the swecond language in Italy and taugfht in the schools so if you sit down and write a simple sentence letter like My name is......., My parentsd came from Gioa Del Colle........, I am seeking relatives who know my family....... like this. The kids can always take it to school so the teacher can translate it. You can also go to www.freetranslation.com and compose a letter in Italian from english on that website. Peter
thanks, you really have a nice answer. But honestly, I have done this before and nobody answered me. I even found some living relatives and wrote them, but they never answer. So I thought, being able to look at archives myself (or having somebody do it for me) could solve the problem. Do you have any idea who would want to do this for me?
I find that hard to believe unless your letters were not understood or you didn't encourage a reply by putting in a dollar for stamps and a return envelope so they could write easily to you. In any event you can go to the family History Library of the Mormon church nearest your home na drent the micorfilm of the civilk records for Gioa del Colle which date back to 1809 and trace your family that way. The other way is to write to the town for documents like birth, marriage and death records or head of family certificates which give you the family composition of wife, children etc. But in all instances you need a full name and at least a year of birth. Peter
Yeah, thats hard to believe, I thought you would say that. I even sent about 50 letters to living Denticos in the USA and only 2 answered. I guess I will have to visit the family history center, just as you said.
Thanks a lot, Peter!
