Estratto Dell'Atto di Nascita

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Estratto Dell'Atto di Nascita

Postby Drew927 » 24 Jan 2010, 02:45

I recieved the Estratto Dell'atto di Nascita from the Comune di Napoli for my grandfather. Will this be acceptable? Do I need an actual Birth certificate? It is stamped, dated annd signed by the Istruttore Amministrativo.

The answer to your question is: Yes, the Estratto is acceptable (and required)

An "Estratto dell'atto di nascita" contains more information than a "Certificato di Nascita".
An "Estratto" is a copy of the actual birth act recorded in the book register including all annotations, while a "Certificato" is a simple document that certifies that John Smith was born on a certain date.
