I don't know if you have seen this, but he is yours on a passenger list coming from Caracas through Ellis Island. His father was in Caracas. He was traveling with a 19 year old by the name of Cruz M Duque and going to a cousin named Angel Duque at 85 Fulton Street in Brooklyn, NY.

You can view the passenger list at www.elisislandrecords.org or at www.stevemorse.org.

First Name: Genaro
Last Name: DeMayo
Ethnicity: Venez., Span. Amer.
Last Place of Residence: Caracas, Venez.
Date of Arrival: Nov 19, 1920
Age at Arrival: 21y Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Maracaibo
Port of Departure: Maracaibo
Manifest Line Number: 0004

Do you know if any of the De Maio relatives came to the U.S. from Italy?

anagrafe@comune.napoli.it

This is an email address for the anagrafe or registry office in the city of Naples which would house the birth records for the town. You could try that first.
