italian citizenship of a german-born woman

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

italian citizenship of a german-born woman

Postby andrus » 30 May 2010, 22:57

My grandmother was born in Germany but later on she became Italian citizen, I do not know if by choice or because of her marriage with my Italian grandfather. Now I have to legally prove her Italian citizenship under the laws of Italy: what document should I request? Should be there an Italian birth certificate even though she was born abroad? Or is a marriage certificate or a "naturalization" certificate? Many thanks.

You will need to find out the Comune where she / they are registered..

The registration of her birth NASCITA certificate for cittadinanza,
MATRIMONIO , Stato Civile records may be at that comune.

Try your Local Consulate for aiuto.

Buona Fortuna

Hello Luigi. Thanks for your previous answer. By any chance, do you know someone I can hire to make the questions personally in Thiene (or that does it in general in Vicenza province? I have not been successful by phone...
