USS Canopic

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

USS Canopic

Postby mexicocaribbean » 19 Jun 2010, 18:02

I'm trying to establish the actual date of arrival for the Canopic in the port of Boston on February 14th; the year is in question; it's either 1904 or 1905. The ship manifest shows 1904, yet someone penciled this out and replaced 1905.
This ie the ship my great grandfather and mother were on. They were married in 1905 and she's listed as his wife on the manifest, so 1904 cna't be right unless I'm missing something.
Is there a way to establish which year it was?
thanks

Hi!
5 is written after 190 in the middle of the page
(Apparently the stamped date of 1904 was corrected afterwards)

I have to say that it really does look like 1905 to me. I just scanned through the entire manifest and on several pages it appears that the dates were plainly written 1905 and just that someone set the rubber stamp incorrectly creating the 1904 dates.

For example:
