I am trying to track down my fiance's great grandfather's birth certificate. His great grandfather was born in Tiarno di Sopra, which it seems at one time was territory of Austria. I am at a rock and a hard place since I don't know if I should start my search in Italy and/or Austria. And if in Austria where? What comune or court would Tiarno di Sopra been under. Also, if the birth certificate is in Italy, what kind of information, costs and time would it take to obtain? If anyone could help me I would so much appreciate it.

Any help is appreciated. Should I start by calling the comune?
Hi, from 1874 to 1878 in all Trentino region was born in Tiarno di Sopra ONLY 1 Odorizzi:
name: PIETRO BERNARDO ODORIZZI gender: M baptism date: 7/11/1876 birth place: TIARNO DI SOPRA parish: SS. Pietro e Paolo father: Bernardo ODORIZZI mother: Madalena POINELLI so this must be the name of your fiance's great grandfather.
Now, because in this region( Trentino Alto Adige) from 1815 to 1923 the priests was also civil record's officers, for the birth certificate
googling abt the priest name of this church, what I found is:
I have tried calling the church many times leaving many messages to see if Don Giampietro has received my request. Is there any other way to contact the church? I want to make sure that they received my request, and I would like to know how long it will take for them to send this document to me. Two weeks have past already and I am getting anxious.
Here patience is a virtue, particularly when you are dealing with the jolly reverends in Italy. Give it another week and during the following 4th week send an updated e-mail. All sorts of things may have come up and for the first time around it may pay to be patient. =Peter=
