I Have a question about The Category 3

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Category 3) your father was born in the United States or a Country other than Italy, your paternal grandfather was an Italian citizen at the time of your father’s birth, neither you nor your father ever renounced your right to the Italian citizenship;

This category didn't mention if:
1-the grandfather is like grandmother or no

2-If the Grandfather lost the italian citizenship after that my father was born or stayed with it till my father became major..

can anyone make it clear plz.
Thanx 8)
