Chicago naturalization papers

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Chicago naturalization papers

Postby DonDa » 19 Aug 2010, 15:45

I have been seeking my GGF's naturalization papers for months now and I am seeking a solution other than going through USCIS which entails months of waiting.

I have located his younger brothers' papers (both naturalized 1924) through the Cook Co.(Chicago, IL) Circuit Court archives and after looking through some old papers, located the naturalization of his older brother from 1916. The problem is I haven't located my GGF's naturalization. All I have is a declaration of intent dated 2/3/1919.

I have a hard time believing he wasn't naturalized due to the fact that all of his relatives at the time were and all of the other records I have for him were filled out correctly and in order. If he was naturalized, I believe it would be between 1921 and 1926 according to the DOI and it would have been in Cook County.

This is what I have my GGF Saverio Catrambone:

Saverio's Parents: Domenico Catrambone b: 1853-1915, Marianna Catrambone (Porine)
Saverio Catrambone
b: Gasperina, Italy 11/4/1879 or 1/1879
m: 1902?, Gasperina,Italy
a: 5/14/1903? NY
naturalized: ??
d: 7/1/1948

wife-Maria Teresa Catrambone
b: Gasperina, Italy 12/23/1884
m: Gasperina, Italy 1902?
a: 10/10/1907? NY
d: 9/19/1969

If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be much appreciated as I've spent months searching to no avail. If any more info is needed, contact me. Thanks...
