2 passports?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

2 passports?

Postby Gianna75010 » 20 Sep 2010, 21:02

For all of you who have gotten dual citizenship, do you now have both US and Italian passports? Are there laws for when you travel regarding which passport you can use? Some people say you have to use the same passport for every round trip you make so the government can track your entering and exiting the country. Other people say you can use whatever passport you want when you travel (e.g. US every time you enter the US and Italian passport every time you enter Italy).

From all the information I have seen:

Assumption (US & Italian passports)

Enter US - US passport
Leave US - US passport

Enter Italy - Italian Passport
Leave Italy - Italian Passport

Anywhere else - Your choice.

My assumption #2 would be that you would use the Italian/EU passport in EU countries.

Hope this helps,
