baptismal record/birth certificate help

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

baptismal record/birth certificate help

Postby hollyolly7 » 27 Oct 2010, 14:08

ricbru or anyone who knows what I should do--aiuto! I still haven't heard back from the Archivio dello Stato Piacenza & from the Diocesi di Piacenza-Bobbio for my GGF's records. I need some sort of proof that he was born here; military record, atto di battesimo whatever. I have a photocopy of his atto di battesimo already but it doesn't have any firma ufficiale, seal or anything so I wrote to them for this reason.

-What else can I do?
-Should I just go there in person?
-Like I said before, the fotocopy that I have is in latin. Would someone at the diocesi be able to provide for me a copy in Italian??

They won't certify anything they didn't provide. Whover provided the record you have needs to authenticate it for citizenship purposes.
