What a Great Country and People

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

What a Great Country and People

Postby gottogetit » 03 Nov 2010, 05:11

I was getting a little discourage that i had not received my gf's birth cert. from the commune he was born. thought maybe it was destroyed or did not exist. i reached out on the commune's facebook page. It took over a month but i received a response from a man who said he might be able to help. i gave him my gf's info and his poss date of birth. in less then 24hrs after getting this info he sent me a message saying he has my document and wanted to know where he needed to send it. this happened on Oct 15th. today i received my gf's Birth Cert. eventhough it appears to be a short version of the birth cert. i now know its there and will get the one which is needed.

I offered to pay for any postage and asked if he needed anything from the States that i could send him as a thank you. his response is below.

"I well be in Florida in Dicember
my self
dont worry
is a plasure!!!
to help a Compaesano!!! "

Theres worked to be done with names and ammending but i am now confident that it will be done.

This is why i choose to honor my name and where my family comes from. For all who are waiting for documents don't give up don't ever give up.

Ciao
Mark

LOL! I actually started one specifically to do genealogy on facebook! You can find comune pages, and fan pages of people with the same last name researching their family tree. You can meet some distant relatives through these pages as well

Keep in mind most of the people who belong to a comune page live there and dont speak English
