Permanent residency for spouse

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Permanent residency for spouse

Postby LAROCCAMOM » 18 Jun 2011, 03:20

Does anyone know how to get a permanent residency for my spouse.
Now that I am an Italian citizen we are thinking of the possibility of relocating but I want to make sure that he will be allowed to liva and work there.

Thank you

I think the right way to do this is to first visit your local consulate and obtain a "Family Reunion Visa" - you are Chicago, correct? http://www.consdetroit.esteri.it/Consolato_Chicago/Menu/I_Servizi/Per_chi_si_reca_in_italia/famly_reunion_european.htm

Once in Italy, he will need to apply for a Permesso di Soggiorno per Motivi Familiari - permit to stay for family reasons.
