Issue requesting marriage record

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Issue requesting marriage record

Postby alioli2349 » 20 Jul 2011, 22:20

I have run into a road block. I am applying for Italian Dual Citizenship through the Boston Consulate. I noticed that my Great Grandfather remarried after his marriage to my Great Grandmother. On his death certificate, it has the name of his second wife. I wanted to request the record, just in case, but the Vital Records office in RI refuses to give me this record without a court order. From anyone's experience, will I even need this document?

Also, I just noticed on my parents marriage certificate it has the nickname of my grandfather, rather than his actual name. It says "Guy" as opposed to "Gaetano", this is the only document with this error...will this be a problem? He died several years ago.

Thank you,
