Cairoli/Colmegna from Como

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Cairoli/Colmegna from Como

Postby Chiarasrelatives » 27 Jul 2011, 21:02

Hello everyone,
my name is Chiara and I’m looking for the descendants of an ancestor of mine.
Unfortunately I have very few and confused datas about him: his last name was Cairoli or Colmegna, he went to America at the beginning of 1900, at the age of 9/10, from Cermenate, a small town near Como.

His last letter was sent from Rosario de Santa Fe, in Argentina, and he announced the birth of her daughter named Regina after her mother or sister.
How can I find his family or more informations?
Thank you!

hi,
for fist thig I advice you of to search the right name (first name and surname as a well parent's names) and him birthdate in Cermenate; after that to search also the immigration record by this website:
http://www.cemla.com/busqueda.php

after, because no many civil records of Argentina are on line, you can
order Rosario microfilms by LDS(Mormons) near or in your place:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... umns=*,0,0
hoping of to find more details...
and when you have all this infos, hoping that your ancestor had also some son, you can contact some people in Rosario with the surname that you are searching for(googling or by Argentina white pages) ...
regards,
suanj

Do you have a first name for this person?
