naturalization records

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

naturalization records

Postby mic21121001 » 10 Feb 2012, 23:14

I am trying to locate the naturalization records for my Grandfather to see if I can qualify through him for citizenship. This is what I know for sure:

Amadeo Micheletti

Arrived: July 8th 1922 (First Time)

Born: 18 Jun 1897, Cardoso, Lucca, Italy

Died: 07 May 1979, San Francisco

He married Agnese Jesse Vannucci in 1933 in Italy

They both came back to the United States in 1933 or 1934.

My father was born in 1941 in San Francisco.

However I cannot find anything on either my Grandfather or Grandmother BUT my two Aunts that came with them there are records for. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Go to USCIS and request an index search and email NARA and have them search their records. USCIS fee is $20.00, NARA is free. If you find naturalization records you will be able to determine if you qualify.

If your GF naturalized prior to your father's birth then unfortunately you would not qualify. You cannot go back and trace lineage from your GGF. Can you qualify through your mother's line?
