Found my paternal GF's Cert of Naturalization

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Found my paternal GF's Cert of Naturalization

Postby HaveTrunk » 18 Feb 2012, 09:21

Hello All,

I'm a rookie here and am trying to determine if I may obtain dual citizenship.

We have a beautiful copy of my paternal GF's Cert of Naturalization. It is dated 5/1/1928. My father was born in New York after his father’s naturalization on 11/10/1925. So, I am wondering if I am able to pursue dual citizenship through my father’s line, I am female.

All four of my grandparent’s emigrated from Caltanissetta, yet there are few records among family members. This may be my best shot, so I’m wondering if this is a route to research.

Thanks so much, Andrea

I'm confused. You say your father was born AFTER his father naturalized, but the dates you give seem to indicate that your father was born in 1925 and your gf naturalized in 1928. If your dates are correct, then your father was born BEFORE the naturalization of his father and you would most definitely qualify.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if I am dyslexic or over tired! Thank you for catching that. My father was born in 1925 before his father naturalized in 1928.

It's an easy mistake to make, but it's all good. You would definitely qualify through this line. Best of luck.
