I am trying to find information on whether or not I can apply for dual citizenship. My grandfather, Anthony Rosano, was born here in the US. His parents came from Palermiti, Italy. I am not sure if/when they naturalized.
My grandmother, Olimpia Cantone, was born in Napoli, Italy. She married my grandfather there and they both came to the US in about 1954. From what I gather, she got naturalized in 1965. This was 5 years after my mother was born (she was born 1960).
I thought I read somewhere that the dual citizenship would go to the children of my grandmother who were born before she naturalized and extended 1 generation later (which would be me). I was wondering if this is true and how I would go about applying.
If your gm was an Italian citizen when your mother was born in 1960, your mother, her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, etc. are all eligible for Italian citizenship recognition. You will find the information you need at the website of your local consulate. For more specific information and guidance, check out www.italiancitizenship.freeforums.org
