Carmine Morro. Italian Catholic Orphanage? Help please

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Carmine Morro. Italian Catholic Orphanage? Help please

Postby Boberek18 » 05 Oct 2012, 23:45

Hi. My GG Grandfather was born in Italy possibly Avellina in 1885. He moved to America sometime between 1887-1895. His mother died around two years after they moved to America, so he was put in an orphanage until his biological father took him out roughly just about before the 1900 census was taken. His name was Carmine Morro and his dads name may have been Anthony but its just a hunch, and he arrived in Brooklyn or Manhatten. If you can find a ship manifest, natrilization card, 1900 census or orphanage record that would be great. The orphange was probably italian or catholic. Thank you
