Italian Immigration to Tunisia

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Italian Immigration to Tunisia

Postby mariannt » 25 Mar 2005, 04:27

I recently found a list of over 7,000 documented marriages (not all are Italian marriages) in Tunisia http://debono.club.fr/mariagestunisie/intro.html "LISTE DES MARIAGES CATHOLIQUES EN TUNISIE DE 1801 À 1949" The website is in French, but you can use www.babblefish.com to translate it. In addition to marriages there are links to recordings of deaths. It is well worth researching.

In finding this list I found seven additional relatives that were unknown to us, which is good news. But the documentation of Italians immigrating to Tunisia is very limited which is bad news.

Does any one know of the history of Italians immigrating to Tunisia? If you do and if you have any website links, or information that you could pass on I would appreciate it.
