I am claiming citizenship through descent from my paternal grandmother. My father was born in 1953, and my grandmother in 1919, several years BEFORE her father became a US citizen.
I have a problem, though. The name on her birth certificate, Iuseppina, differs from the name she used throughout her life (Josephine). I don't believe that she ever legally Anglicized her name...just went about doing it informally, I guess.
How do I assure the consulate and the other authorities that this is, indeed, the same person?
