Citizenship to wife

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Citizenship to wife

Postby sparkeeper » 08 Apr 2014, 03:44

Hello,

I am an italian citizen and a US citizen.

I have been married to a US citizen for 10 years now. My wife can become a dual italian/us citizenship through me.

My question: can my wife become an italian citizenship through me if i die. in other words, do i have to be alive in order for my spouse to claim citizenship or can she do so after i have passed away.

Thanks in advance

You have to be alive because your wife cannot apply to become a naturalized Italian citizen without your permission.
