NY 1921 is Ellis Island. YOu can search for the arrival here (you have to register to see the manifests, but it is free)
http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.html
http://www.ellisisland.org/

Boston arrival in 1927 is available from Ancestry.com This database is a paid subscription. YOu can use it for free at Family History Centers of the LDS church and many lilbraries also have it. Women usually traveled under their maiden names. In Italy they did not loose this idenity. YOu may need to check maiden and married name.

Have you found your family on the 1930 census?

Ellis Island records online are from 1892 to 1924...

Re: Louisa (is maiden name Ruggiero???) and daughter Maria...

There are a few Maria Ruggiero coming through Boston Harbor, but not 1927. Can you provide a birth year for Maria?... and if she had a middle name, please provide.

Boston Harbor records are from 1891-1943

GGGood news... a manifest does exist for Fiorentino "Rugggiero"

First Name: Fiorentino
Last Name: Rugggiero (as transcribed....)
Ethnicity: Italy Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Ogliastro, Italy
Date of Arrival: June 13, 1913
Age at Arrival:  18y    Gender:  M    Marital Status:  S
Ship of Travel: San Giovanni
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0013

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipM ... 0568%2ETIF

page 2

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipM ... 0568%2ETIF

Mentions that his mother in Italy is a Maria Esposito... and father Antonio is already in the USA

suanj posted a manifest of a Carmine earlier on who was going to join his brother Fiorentino.

Also... I checked the ships that arrived in August and September 1927 that Ancestry .com has in their Boston Harbor data bases... unfortunately, the SS Conte Rosso ships manifests are not included for that period... I know someone once contacted the Boston Archives... and was able to get a copy of the manifest that we couldn't find through Ancestry...

Here is the census info for 1930:

In 1930 listed as Carmine Ruggiore living at 618 Saratoga Street. Renting house. ED 13-6, page 9A Boston City, Suffolk, Massachusetts

Ruggiore, Carmine, age 37, married at 27, born Italy, arrived 1910,
naturalized, laborer, road builder
--------, Louise, age 39, married at 28, born Italy, arrived 1927,
alien
--------, Mary, age 9, born Italy, arrived 1927, naturalized
--------, Eva, age 1y 4 months, born Massachusetts.

Could find no arrival info per Boston manifests. Not by first name only, last names, partial last names, meeting Carmine, age only, everyone from Italy. If she had been in the US before, chances are she was with Carmine in Boston...hence the marking of Boston on the passport. It might not indicate port of arrival.

Contact the NARA in Waltham via e-mail. They may be able to help locate the paperwork. Go to NARA.gov and look for the link. Good Luck.
