The left side of the document-called the Solemn Promise-is dated on Dec 21, 1862 in Mirto. Appearing was Maestro (title meaning master of his trade-shoemaker) Antonino Bora', age 36, who had been born in Gioiosa and was a resident there. He was the son of Lucio, a tailor in Gioiosa, and Carmela Laura, a seamstress. The bride Teresa Circatura was age 19, and a spinner born and resident in Mirto. She was the daughter of Salvatore, a muleteer (he was deceased) and Maria Ricca, a spinner, also deceased. Their death records were also presented for the marriage, but the dates of their deaths are not given in this record. Also from the list of documents presented for the marriage, we learn that the bride had been previously married, as she also presented a copy of the death act of her first husband (not named and no date of death for him). Notification of this promise was posted on the town hall door of Mirto on Oct 26th of the current year. In addition to the documents mentioned above, the bride also presented a copy of the death record of her grandfather. There was also a copy of the notification from Gioiosa.
