Agostino Carnevale

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Agostino Carnevale

Postby TerraLavoro » 25 Mar 2015, 21:57

If anyone could provide a link (or image) for the passenger record for Agostino Carnevale I would very much appreciate.

He is listed in the Canadian passenger 1865-1935 database, (under Agostina) and arrived at the port of Montreal.

I do not have the international subscription to Ancestry.com otherwise would do it myself. Thank you in advance for this.....that is whoever decides to help here. :)

Thank you Tessa! Given this individual's age (too young), I don't think he is who I am looking for. If by chance, you find a record of a person by that name who who died in Montreal circa 1900-1910, that might help. Very nice of you to help me on this, thanks again.

My best estimate is 1860-1870, so late 1860s say.

You say the manifest is on Ancestry.
I did a search of all Canadian arrivals for Agostina/o Carnevale (in fact, all Carnevale) and this is the only one that appears.

However, I did find an Antonio Carnevale, born about 1872, arriving Montreal in 1902
Name: Antonio Carnevale
Gender: Male
Age: 30
Birth Year: abt 1872
Date of Arrival: 31 Jul 1902
Vessel: Lake Ontario
Search Ship Database: Search for the Lake Ontario in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Port of Arrival: Quebec and Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England

I will take another look.

EDIT TO ADD:

Possibly the death record you are searching for?

He looks to be age 55 at his death in 1903.
That would put a birth year of 1848...

Name: Agostino Carnevale
Event: Enterrement (Burial)
Burial Year: 1903
Burial Location: Montréal, Québec (Quebec)
Place of Worship or Institution: Basilique Notre-Dame

Thank you Tessa! That death record could be him. As far as the Antonio Carnevale 1902 arrival, does that manifest indicate last place of residence, or better still place of birth?

Only place identified is "Nation or Country of Birth" - Italy

It appears that Agostino/a was traveling with Antonio Carnevale, age 58; and with Giovanni Carnevale, age 13. Destination - Montreal

FYI - the date of death on the record above is 25 August 1903.
Date of the record is 29 August.

Thank you again for the help Tessa! My hunt continues, gotta hit this one from another angle. Heading to Italy in May to visit some ancestral comuni, and this search will be a part of that.
