Vincenzo Bruno who emigrated to Alexandria, Egypt

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Vincenzo Bruno who emigrated to Alexandria, Egypt

Postby gilleschatelain » 06 Aug 2005, 02:47

I am looking for any information about my great grandfather, Vincenzo Bruno (born in Torino, August 29, 1837) who emigrated to Alexandria, Egypt around 1865-1870. it seems he got a daughter there from his Italian partner.
Has anybody any idea how to find a list of Italians who emigrated to Egypt?
Is anybody aware of an Association of Italians from Egypt founded by Mr. Guidice of Rome?

Thank you for your help.

Thanks a million, suanj!
In fact, Giovanni Giudice "is a third generation italian from Egypt. Back in Rome, together with a group of friends, he founded the 'Association of Italians from Egypt' (A.I.D.E.) whose aim is to keep alive the memories of those who lived in Egypt for the past decades" (Source: Italian News).
I will e-mail him immediately. may be he will be able able to help me found some trace of my great grand-father. The Italian Consulate in Alexandria never answered me....

Thank you again.

Hi, I'm also hoping someone can help me with my Italian descendants that were from Egypt. I'm looking to see if anyone has heard of and may be related to Felix Sabbatini Rossano (born and lived in the 1800's). His wife's maiden name was Costi and their daughter's name was Edmee Rossano. Edmee Rossano is maternal great-grandmother. I don't know how and why they ended up in Egypt and can't find anything on-line. I can trace back as far as Felix Rossano but he was also born in Alexandria, Egypt, so can't see any relatives that were born in Italy. Although Rossano may be more common than Costi, I have never heard of any Italian-Americans with either of these last names.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
