Divorced from a German - do I need his Birth Certificate

Postby jagirl » 25 Nov 2015, 17:21

Hello - I was going along and just starting to prepare the papers I need - I am eligible through my Grandfather who naturalized after my father's birth - but then somewhere somehow was informed that along with my divorce and marriage records to a German (no problem for me) I would need my ex's Birth Certificate! Does anyone know if this is true? I have been divorced since 1999, have no children, and no contact with him (and want none) and do not want my getting citizenship depending on that! Does anyone know the facts about this. I'm having a really hard time getting answers!
