What to do? No Birth Certificate for American-born Father

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

What to do? No Birth Certificate for American-born Father

Postby Cristina319 » 13 Jan 2016, 02:24

Good evening!
I am trying to gather all of my records for citizenship, and I cannot get a birth certificate for my American, non-Italian father. His parents emigrated from Austria in 1912 or so, and he was born in 1917 in Ohio. There is no record of his birth, but there is of his death. What a predicament.

Can anyone give me your thoughts on what i need to do?

Thanks!
Cristina

Since your father is not part of your Italian line, you needn't worry. Do provide the marriage and death certificates. The missing birth certificate is unlikely to be a problem.
