Acquiring birth records from Torretta, Siliy

My wife and I recently found out about my eligibility for Italian Citizenship through Jure Sanguinis via my great grandfather. We've started the process of obtaining the necessary documentation and we though that we'd try to get the Italian birth records first, assuming they would be the most difficult to locate. I was able to contact the comune for my great grandfather's birth records fairly easily but I'm having trouble with contacting someone in regards to my great grandmother. I found this site which game me some basic info, and from there I found the site of the comune directly here I emailed a few different folks but haven't heard back. I understand that things take longer over there and that email may not be the best way to go.

Anyone have any experience getting documents from Sicily and specifically Torretta? SHould I just go through a service like and pay them the $60 to do the work for me? I don't mind reaching out on my own but they may be more successful.

I'd love to hear what others have experienced. Grazie!

Send a request in Italian via "snail mail" and include a photo ID, and email address for contact, and no money.
Wait to hear from them first.

Help with letters of request in Italian (should you need them) ... ecords.asp ... ation.html
