Italians to Argentina, circa 1948

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Italians to Argentina, circa 1948

Postby ally » 21 Dec 2005, 01:50

Can anyone help me try to find a long lost brother of my father in law.

His brother, Giuseppe Piccirillo, born in 1928 in Portico Italy left to Argentina in 1948.

He was 20 yrs old and just married. We know in 1992-4 he was alive as he called his family in Portico wanting to return to Italy, but had no means of doing so. After that my mom in law passed and no one has heard from him.

Is there any way of checking? His parents: Carmel Ienco, father Saverio Piccirillo hail from Portico as well as all other siblings other then my father in law.

Any direction woul dbe helpful.

Thanks,

Have you checked the telephone listings of Argentina?

A few names come up only as Jose Piccirillo.

Checked names. Seems a Martha Piccirillo in Buenes Aires on Moyano rings a bell with my father in law. The other brother Antonio had a daughter named Martha, and he recalls this street address as being familiar to him. He is going to try to call next week after the holidays. Still checking though. Does Argentina have some kind of death index or such to check also? Like we have ssdi, maybe they have something???

Thanks for the lead! Happy Holidays to all and a safe and healthy new year!!!
