Maternal Grandfather

Postby Last » 28 Apr 2006, 00:38

Hello, I thought since I am having very little sucess locating my paternal grandfather, I would ask your help in locating my maternal grandfather. I have tried Ellis Island web site and have had no luck. His name is:
Vincenzo Mirra (Mirro) Mirro is the name he went by. The declaration of intention has his name spelled Mirra. It states that he was a showmaker, born on August 20, 1889. He was born in St. Giorgio, La Montagna, Italy. He imigrated from Naples, Italy and arrived in New York on April 30, 1913 on the ship Mandoza. Now after ALL that information you would think I would have no problem locating him. Well I can't. PLEASE see what you can do for me.

Thank you very much....... :?

Hi if you ar elooking for a death cert for my maternal grandfather, he passed away in 1977.

Yes I am trying to verify my paternal grandfather's arrival. When I located him, and requested a copy of the manifest I noticed his name was crossed out. I never gave it any thought. Well I had to contact Ellis Island, and in conversation with a csr she noted that his name was crossed out. Well she stated that at times that may mean that he never made that ship. Bottom line I am trying to verify I have the correct manifest. As an added note, I left my notebook at work. I have all my information such as dates and such there. If you would like to help me I could write to you in the AM.

One other thing the census that was e-mailed to me was not for my maternal grandfather (Mirra) There was a Mirro listed on the manifest, but it wasn't him. Please try to locate the census for me.

Thanks again for all your help.

Vincent Mirro was not a relative of my maternal grandfather. He was listed in the census that was e-mailed to me. They were not relative of my grandfather. Please locate the correct census. MY mothers name is Carmella. The information listed was correct in the email but the picter of the census was not right.

Lsast,

I am not looking for Vincent's death certificate for you. You will have to order that from the county clerk's office. I just was wondering if you have it, because the Social Social Death Index (posted above) shows a different day of death.

Nuccia,

No problem.

Can't be old age, but will agree to lack of sleep or just plain human error!
You've covered my back many times!

Hope all going well for you. Email when you get the chance.

Have a great day.

Hugs
