Divorce papers ?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Divorce papers ?

Postby mabio » 18 May 2006, 01:14

I'm almost finished getting together all my documentation for Italian Citizenship. (jure sanguinis via my maternal grand-father)

I've seen a few posts mentionning divorce papers I have always assumed that it only applied to people who were getting citizenship through marriage.

Is that correct ?

Thank you

I believe if you are divorced you need to supply the decree of the court regardless of the basis of the citizenship request. In addition you will need a certificate from the clerk or keeper of records of that court that there is no pending appeal in the case. Both documents must be translated into Italian, and both the originals and the translations require apostilles.
