If you could provide more detail on who, what, when and where it would make it easier for those wishing to help.......first name, birthdate? spouse or known children?

Okay, here is some more info. I was told the pronounciation was something like (Cherr "ah" so) Cherraso My grand father's parents came to the U.S, my grandfather was born, and when he was 4 or 5 they went back to Italy. My grandfater stayed with older siblings. Hi name was Anthony Cherry and Married Milldred Arnoni(e) My Father Gus Cherry was born May 14, 1925 and died last January 2005. I went to an online Italian English dictionary and did not find a translation for "Cieri" that was suggested. Perhaps there is a town between Naples and Rome related to the name Cherry? Thank you for your time with these questions!! Michael

wldspirit, Wow that was fast. Thank You. You have the correct record for my father and grandparents alright. What does, ""Parents' birthplace: View Image"" mean is there a scanned image of the cencus page? I guess there is no information on anthony Cherry's parents then. Also My grandmother, Millie Cherry, do you have the spelling for her maiden name? I hate to keep asking question but I don't know how or where to look for myself. Thanks. Michael

The name Cieri I provided.... is pronounced "Cherry"...

There are a number of manifests with the surname Cieri... I checked before I posted.

But then again... these online Italian English dictionaries... are just the best eh?

Here is the link to the direct image, may need a magnifying glass.....
as for spelling of surnames, not my specialty, I used a town of origin from the World War 1 draft registration and ran it thru the immigration database.....they are ONLY possibilities.....the pros on names around here would be Maria and Suanj......
still looking for additional records.......

How long did your grandfather stay in Italy??

I guess he married in the USA?

Also.. he named his first born James...

Maybe a name like "Giacomo Ciraso" is a possibility...

Just guessing at this point...

Nice census record wldspirit!
