Michael Basso

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Michael Basso

Post by yochana »

Right now I am brick walled on my grand father "Michael Basso". The family says that he came possibly from Naples, Italy. I have not yet found him on a ship manifest. We know that he came to America in the early 1900's and worked as a miner in Virginia City. He married a Della Bruna in June 17, 1923 in Virginia City. He had 4 boys and died June 7 1937 from a mining accident. I want to trace him back to Italy, but how!!!

I saw that you had found a name Rosa Basso. My husband had a Aunt Rosie Basso Ratti in Livermore, CA. Grandmothers name was Delphina Basso Ratti Schenone.

Had relatives in the Swiss Alps? Could this be a connection? I believe her port of departure was Havre in 1912. Delphine had a brother Chester, Lorenso, and maybe Angelo Ratti. Mothers maiden name was Basso.
