Do I qualify?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Do I qualify?

Postby Aurelius » 18 Jan 2007, 22:08

Hello I am reposting my question from the Italian Geanology forum on this forum.
My mother would like to see if she can qualify for Italian citizenship, and I through her. She was born in 1930 so I believe it will have to come through her father's side even though both her parent are from Italian parents. I will give the little information I know at the moment.
My mother's father's name was Pedro Bertoldo Panero. This is how his name appears on my mother's certified birth certificate.
His parent's names were: Juvenal Panero and Margarita Troyya. On my mother's birth certificate this is how the names were spelled. I am not sure if the spellings are correct. For example Juvenal may be Giovenale. Also Troyya may be Troya or Trojja or even Troja.
Now the big question is if they were ever naturalized, I don't think so and am not sure how to find out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also just for more information.
Juvenale Panero and Margarita Troyya came in through Argentina. My grandfather, Pedro Bertoldo Panero was born in Argentina as my mom.

Sorry Aurelius, we didn't mean to be confusing, but I think we were.

Your original question about qualifying for citizenship belonged in this category because it was about Italian citizenship eligibility.

This question belongs in "Italian Genealogy," the topic you just left, because now you know you qualify and are trying to find out about specific family members and what might have happened to them. I'm sure that some of our genealogy experts will find their way to this thread and give you some answers, but they'll see it more quickly if you post the question again in the original forum category.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks mler,
I will go back to the Italian Genealogy section and post a new thread.

I'm sure others will join in the research and offer other tips/ideas.
