Italian citizenship of ancestor

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Italian citizenship of ancestor

Postby drovedo » 22 Aug 2007, 17:25

I sent for my grandfather's certificate of italian citizenship several months ago. I Just sent a follow up letter about two weeks ago. If they do not find it, what are my options, if any? Would I still be eligible for Italian citizenship?

My grandfather was born in US, but has a italian birth certificate.
My great grandfather was born in Italy.

I have Everything the consulate requested except the citizenship paper. They told me that it would be a major pain to go back to the great grandfather. Any comments?

Thank you.
