Newbie needs help. Am I eligible?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Newbie needs help. Am I eligible?

Postby jvignolo » 04 Sep 2007, 16:53

My great-great grandfather immigrated from Italy to the U.S. My great grandfather was born here in the states. My great grandfather never renounced his citizenship, and, as far as I'm aware, none of my other relatives ever has. Am I eligible for dual citizenship though ancestry?
I've found some conflicting information. I'm just doing some preliminary research before I undertake this extensive process. Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

There are several questions you need to answer.

Did your great-great grandfather naturalize? If so, when?

Which grandparent is the child of the great grandfather (grandmother or grandfather)?

Is this the paternal or maternal side?

What are the birth years of each person in the Italian line?

If you can provide this information, we will be in a better position to answer your question.
