Passport through Grandmother

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Passport through Grandmother

Postby EvaW » 05 Jan 2008, 00:57

Hi, My gran was born in Italy and still holds an Italian passport despite living in SA for many years. My grandfather was British, they were married in Italy, and moved to SA some months later. My mother holds a british passport through my grandfather. Would I be able to obtain an Italian passport or Visa through my Grandmother?
Thanks

If your grandmother never naturalized (or naturalized after your mom was born), AND your mom was born after 1948 (and also never naturalized anywhere), you may well be eligible for Italian citizenship.
