Rules for attaching translations?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Rules for attaching translations?

Postby Luca722 » 13 Feb 2008, 02:35

Curious to know if the translations have to be stapled to the corresponding documents ... or paper clipped?

Are affidavits from the translator required for EACH document, and if so, do these also have to be stapled to the translation and document?

If it helps, I am applying through the Boston Consulate.

Thank you!

I've heard that you SHOULD NOT staple the translations to the documents as it will void the apostille. I was planning on paper clipping mine.

Thank you, David. That's good to know!

Do you know if the translation have to be apostilled?

I'm not sure the secretary of state will even give apostilles for translations since the document must bear an original signature by a government clerk. The translation is essentially a copy of the original document. Also, I didn't notice this on the requirements at my consulate (S.F). They specifically say what documents need apostilles in the list of requirements:
