could someone please help with ggf info?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

From the World War 2 draft registration:

Nickolas Palumbo
109 North Street
New Britain, Hartford, Conn.
age 59
date of birth 12-7-1882
place Italy
nearest relative, Mary of same address
employer L Hall Kensington
and he does not sign the form, but makes his mark with an X.
Also, he does not list a specific town of birth.

You will need to identify the exact place of birth in order to send for documentation........gather as many US records as you can to uncover this information. Naturalization, death, marriage, church records and even the Aunts and Uncles birth records.
Once you have done this, you can then begin the process of sending for Italian records.
Here is a website which gives further detail on what is involved for dual citizenship:
http://www.italiamerica.org/id71.htm
hope this helps...
