Sammartino, Anthony or Pizzo, Vincenza

Postby SantomR » 06 Aug 2008, 05:09

My great grandparents came to the U.S. in the late 1800s. Anthony Sammartino left the priesthood to marry Vincenza Pizzo in Italy. All I know is that he had very red hair and that he was a priest at one point earlier in life in Italy. Anthony died of pneumonia but I cannot find any death records that match. He passed away prior to 1930 as Vincenza lived alone on that census. I am not sure exactly what part of Italy they came from. I have been unable to find any information on them except for Vincenza (Jennie) Sammartino on a 1930 Jersey City census. Anthony and Vincenza (Jennie) had 7 children; Joseph Sammartino (1904?), Louis Sammartino (1906?), Frank Sammartino (1908?), Matilda (Tille) Sammartino (married name Brown) (born ????), Rose Sammartino (born ????), and my grandmother Carmela (Carrie) Sammartino (born 1 FEB 1904)(married name Hemberger).
