Dear Tony Ric I went thru those manifests as did Misbris but it was my judgement it was not worth mentioning but you cannot go wrong with information as long as it does not get in the way of your objectives. =Peter=

I was thinking that the Cesidia might be a first cousin (named after the same grandmother? ) Since she was also going to Boston, it seemed a possibility. Does her husband's name Luigi Bertoni (?)ring any bells?

Huh, that Santangelo doesn't show up in any census records anywhere. Could be a lack of good indexing.....

NARA was a waste of time for me. They wouldn't help and then just pointed me to the actual manifests. <shrug> Now I am lost.

Unfortunately Luigi Bertoni doesn't ring anything. But, I will be with my father and uncle tonight and will ask if it does with them. Apparently there was a rift between my GF and Frank, so little information about that part of the family was passed along.

Dear Tonyric just what manifest did he refer you to? If it is a boston ma nfiest then you can rent out the miocrofilm reel. Why not try again with the excuse that you are having trouble locating it and since they have the INDEX FOR HER , disaster.= could you please do me the favor etc etc and be humble, sweet and display all the warmth and tenderness you can muster. I have always had people obtain information telephonically with much success.....your my first ntil you report back. Maybe he will intercede in your behalf. =Peter=

What I note is that somehow my reference to turning the Statue of Saint Anthony upside down as a gesture in your achieving success with that obtuse NARA nerd has been deleted or eliminated by nefarious gremlins in my PC. I will reinstate my invocation of my plea in your behalf and will turn him right side up when you achieve success...=Peter=

she was coming from Raiano, (L'Aquila Province, abruzzo Region, just 9 miles from Sulmona) joining her brother Vincenzo living in 8 Noyes Place, Boston and leaving in Italy her mother Cesidia....
Maybe her first name could have been Maria?? :?

-From:
http://italia.indettaglio.it/eng/abruzzo/raiano.html

I saw that in Raiano the most common surnames are:

85.05 Di Giannantonio
65.61 Arquilla
60.75 Del Boccio
58.32 Tiberi
55.89 Di Bartolo

do you know if she had siblings???

OMG you rock!!!!!!! I was thinking that he was a tie in and was looking at him. The residence is 1000' from the residence they were living in the 1920 census. This is a STRONG connection and the only good connection I have had so far.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH :)

Vincent was naturalized (cannot make out the date, but based on birth vs census, it looks like the same man):

With the naturalization card (I just looked long and hard at it), I see it is the same vincent, same DOB and address. I believe he is also the same man as the 20 census data. NOW, with the birth place of both and the Cesidia link and all else, I think I have enough circumstantial evidence to pull a birth record on Maria. Domenica, could very well have been her middle name. :)

If you find any other links, please forward them along. :) Thank you again for your help so far.

I'm pleased to help like everybody here! :D

so, I'm thinking this could be Vincenzo's arrival in 1907:
note that he declared Prezza Pia? as last residence but Raiano as place of birth....
I found that Prezza is a little town near to Raiano....(about 5 miles)

and it is between raiano and sulmona. :) This is becoming less and less squishy. We have tied vincent and domenica together. Now, if one of my family rememberes an Uncle Vincent/Vinnie/Vincenzo, Aunt Carmella, or cousin jenny, angelina or helen then I will be almost positive I have the family link. :-D
