Slow going over the last few months

Postby Romano1970 » 11 Aug 2008, 15:54

Hello all. Hope everyone is doing well. It has been pretty slow going in the way of research over the last few months.

There are a couple things I am trying to do and they all seems to be going in reverse for me. here is what I am trying to do. If you know of better ways or something that I have not tried please feel free to advise me.

Lorenzo Romano. Trying to locate any millitary records I can on him. Birth certificate as well. The letters I have written seem to have gone without reply. He was born in Piazza Armerina, Sicilia

Lena Nigrelli. I am trying to get hold of her birth certificate as well. She was born in Mussomeli Sicilia.

Is there something else besides the correspondence that would be more beneficial for me??

You may want to try renting the microfilms from the LDS. I see that Mussomeli Sicilia has been filmed (both the civil and baptism records and as an even the census).

Thank you Nuccia. I will do that.

I know there is a facility in my town where I can do the research on them.

Thank you again.

off this subject for a second. Once I get all of these documents my next challenge will be to apply for dual citizenship. This I understand however is a very slow process. Would you agree?

Yes, I agree. Even in the best circumstances its a very time consuming process. Of course, I am no expert. If you would like more specific information, try posting a question in the Emigration, Immigration, Naturalization and Italian citizenship board and I know there are several people who can give you some very good advice.

In August, everyone in Italy goes on vacation. So everything is closed until September. So it is best to wait until September.

Thank you both. That is probably why I have not heard from my cousin in Mussomeli over the past month....LOL.
