DI GERONIMO FAMILY TO PINK67

Postby anac » 28 Sep 2008, 22:58

DEAR LAURA I HAVE BEEN STUDYING ALL THE INFORMATION THAT YOU SENT ME.
In the ellis island records there is a FALICE DI GERONIMO who arrived at new york in febraury 17, 1921 age: 18 ship: RED ITALY, he join his uncle giusseppe di geronimo at 508 mercer st , i think he is the first child of my great-grandfaher.

in the census of 1930 one of the sons name is james could it be that vicenzo changed his name? because all the dates were similars.

i can not get access to the web site ancestry.com because i`m not suscrpte did you get the information of the census through this page? if not how could i get this information?

thanks a lotttt :D

hola Anac!!

may I ask you to post your answers in the same first thread you posted here? That's why it can be easier find all the informations all together, not jumping before one message and another

I don't think that the Falice you found is your great grandfather's son because on the Ellis Island manifest he declared his father as Pasquale :?:
Moreover, his name is crossed out, he didn't travel on that ship....

You asked if Vicenzo could have changed his name to James. Absolutely...for some reason many immigrants with the name James were actually Vicenzo. My cousin was one of the many. I think it has to do with the pronunciation in broken English of Vicenzo being misunderstood for what an American thought had to be James.

Please note that in the transcription done by Ellis Island the name is misspelled as Falice, while the actual name on the Ship Manifest is the correct one: Felice.

This the Ellis Island transcription:
Passenger record

and this is the ship manifest, Felice is on line 18.
Ship Manifest
