Zampini from Bussi

Postby k8landers » 30 Sep 2008, 13:57

My great grandfather lived in Bussi before coming to the US in 1906.

Passenger records identify him as Felice Zampini. His fathers name was Frank. His naturalization papers state Zampini, Zumbana, and Zambino - which is what our last name ended up being.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Passenger m nifests are prepared abroad and usually based upon documentation submitted by the passenger based upon some governmental authority so that is the most accuratwe spelling of a name, however there have been more thanone instance of erros made.

I checked the telephone directory for Torre de'Busie, Postale 23806, (Lecco), Lombardia region at www.paginebianche.it and there is one ZAMPINI listed which is a further indication of the correct spelling of the surname. The surname is not listed in the Italy surname dictionary meaning it is of local origin or imported from abroad from distant shores.=Peter=

In Ellis Island there are 130 entries with the Zampini Surname. In Italy there are 900+ people with this surname.
I believe that Felice Zampini was coming from Bussi sul Tirino (CAP 65022, Province Pescara).

I think so too.. Bussi sul Tirino - and I believe that his wife was from Capestrano.....How can I request records from those areas? They were married there.

Thanks to Livio we got the right church and the right pew...If you wish to obtain documents in Bussi sul tirino go to www.mangeruca.com for a form letter in Italian (delete any reference to lire or moeny) which is required in Italy. You will find that the service is free and will wait about 6-8 weeks for delivery. it is recommended that you enclose $5-$10.00 in an selfaddressed envelope since poorly paid clerk research records as an end of day duty.

The website has the address which Livo furnished you but allyou have to add it the UFFICIO DI STATO DI CIVILE, comune di Bussi..., postale 65022, Prov. Pescara, Abruzzo region. =Peter=

Capestrano is in the same region as Bussi sul Tirino, but it is in the Province of L'Aquila.
The addresses are

Ufficio di Stato Civile
67022 Capestrano (AQ)
Italy

Ufficio di Stato Civile
65022 Bussi sul Tirino (PE)
Italy

The website www.mangeruca.com is no longer suspended and it can be used very effectively since the website gives you everything you need to send a letter for most records in Italy and in Italian too!! =Peter=

Hi, I believe this is the other half of the birth record. Any help translated to English would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
