I think my great grandfather dropped the I and it just became Orio. He moved to New Mexico with his wife because she got tuberculosis. Please help direct me towards what I need to do. I would really like to learn more about my ancestry so any clues that you could give me or direction I could go would be great. Thank you for any information that you can give me.

Welcome to ItalianGenealogy!

You have a great start, and have provided members with great clues to go on!

Have you collected all US documents?
Identified the exact town of origin in Italy?
ALL records of birth, marriage and death are kept at the comune level.
Once we identify the town of interest, we can then check for microfilmed records of that location. From these you can search records pertaining to your family for the years available.
If there is no microfilm, then you must write to the town and request records.

If these records belong to your g-grandfather, you may have his
location in Italy: the comune of Vico Canavese, province of Torino, Piedmont region

Do any of these records appear correct?

Thanks!

Yeah I am trying to search through all of the data posted. I have some more questions that have come up.

Are the name mispellings common among these records? I can't really tell if all of the entries are the same person as the ones that I have posted.

My father had said that we had come from around torino so the, "the comune of Vico Canaves" makes sense.

I also don't know if this will help but my father had said that we had some sort of connection to Victor Emmanuel II so I don't know if that will help or hinder the search.

Thank you so much for the work you guys have done so far I really appreciate it.

Take your time, there's a lot here to sort through!
Misspellings on census records are very common.
It sometimes depended upon who was giving the information
and whether or not the census enumerator understood them.

Just a few thoughts......alot of records, very confusing.
You know that your Bernardo was married to a Catterina, correct?
Yet we have Tancredi as a step son in 1920, with Catterina married to a
Gianino.......Biff or Vj found records with a Bernardo married to a Josephine.
Could there have been a possible divorce?

Also, did Tancredi have any other siblings besides Catterina?
That you know of for certain? What was his spouses name?
Do you know when they left Illinois? (Danville is in Vermillion county)
