Villa Volturno

Postby Klynh » 15 Nov 2008, 03:21

Hello All,

Has anyone ever heard of Villa Volturno? I recently obtained a SSN Death record for Natale AMATO his place of birth was noted as Villa Volturno, but his Naturalization information indicates he was born in Bellolna.

Well you have two possiblilities
1- the most probable, he was born in Bellona there is a Via Volturno there. It seems that during WWII there was a battle at Villa Volturno just north of Capua, that is where Bellona is.

or

Villa Volturno was meant to be Castel Volturno oddly enough it is on the coast due west of Capua.

During the fascism, the 2 comuni Bellona and Vitulazio were merged in a single municipality called "Villa Volturno" that was part of the Napoli province.

Bellona and Vitulazio are now in the province of Caserta, click here to see a map: http://en.comuni-italiani.it/061/100/mappa.html

Livio,Comune di Vitulazio, (oops CAP) 81041 is listed in Caserta province, Campania and not called Villa Volturno since there is no comune of that name?? I understand what took place during the Fascist period butyour statement was confusing?? =Peter=

Peter, I'm sorry if my English isn't good enough and I confused you.

This is what I wrote:

, maybe I should have added that Caserta is in Campania?

, maybe I should have added that Napoli is in Campania?

Please advise, because I'm eager to learn and not to make mistakes.

Dear Livio no problem it is just that Villa Volturno does not exist as a comune anywhere in Italy and that is what was confusing. No big deal and Thank you. =Peter=
