Amelotti and Vescovo, from Bassignana

Postby candice83 » 20 Nov 2008, 15:33

Hi!

I'm interested in getting started digging more into my family history.

My mother's maiden name is Amelotti - her family came from Bassignana in Alessandria I believe in the early 20th century, haven't got an exact year yet. I do know they sailed from Genoa. The other name in that family is Vescovo.

Just thought I'd take a chance and see if anyone knew of any info!

Thanks,
Candice

Hi Candice,
Welcome to the Forum!
We'd be happy to see what we can do to help.
Do you have a bit more info?
Names, approx birth years?
Where did your family settle in the US?
Do you have your family on any US census records?
Thanks! Valarie

Assunta entered the USA at NYC in 1913 with two other family members. Go to www.ellisisland.org for the arrival, ships manifest and the information which contain their US citizenship number, nationality (switzerland?), en route to grandmother out west. =Peter=

Oh my gosh, this is great!!

I was able to find the ships manifest from the FIRST time they came to America, in 1909 - we think they went back to Italy for a funeral, then stayed when my great aunt Nina was born, before coming back in 1914. Thank you for the head start, everybody!!
